Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
Women's health & Period Pain
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can be used to treat period pain, PCOS and Endometriosis. TCM can assist in reducing inflammation, reducing stress, assisting with pain management, promoting blood and Qi (vital energy) flow to the uterus, regulating hormones and supporting the reproductive system to promote the regulation of ovulation and menstruation.
FERTILITY
Traditional Chinese Medicine combines Acupuncture's therapeutic needling with herbal remedies to address infertility by regulating hormones, enhancing menstrual cycles, promoting ovulation, and alleviating stress. Moreover, it boosts blood circulation to the uterus, vital for embryo implantation and development. TCM aims to rebalance the body by targeting underlying causes.
menopause
From a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective, menopause is understood as a natural transition in a woman’s life when the body’s essence begins to decline. TCM views menopause not just as a hormonal change but as a shift in the balance of Yin and Yang within the body. Through acupuncture and herbal medicine, we can nourish Kidney, calm the mind, and rebalance Yin and Yang.
Digestive Issues
Digestive disorders like IBS, Diverticulitis, Haemorrhoids, bad breath/Hallitosis, and also thyroid issues can be addressed with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Cold & Flu
Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture can assist in reducing inflammation and congestion caused by cold and flu viruses as well as supporting immune system function by promoting circulation.
allergies
Traditional Chinese Medicine can help alleviate symptoms of allergies such as Hay Fever and Sinusitis. Acupuncture restores balance by relieving congestion and pressure in the sinuses, while herbal remedies can assist in reducing inflammation and supporting immune function.
STRESS
In Chinese Medicine, stress affects the free flow of Qi (vital energy) in the body leading to Qi and blood stagnation of the Liver, Heart and Spleen.
The use of Chinese Medicine herbs and Acupuncture can assist to soothe and tonify the body to better cope with stress and alleviate Qi and blood stagnation.
ANXIETY
Acupuncture stimulates the release of endorphins, which can help to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. Acupuncture may also stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system (which is our "rest and digest" system) and reduce the activity of the sympathetic nervous system (which activates our "fight or flight" response).
migraines
Acupuncture may offer relief for migraines through several mechanisms:
Pain Relief: Acupuncture can stimulate the release of endorphins, the body's natural pain-relieving chemicals. By targeting specific points on the body, acupuncture may help reduce the intensity of migraine pain.
Stress Reduction: Stress is a common trigger for migraines. Acupuncture sessions are often accompanied by a sense of relaxation, which can help lower stress levels and potentially decrease the frequency and severity of migraine attacks.
INSOMNIA
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can be effective in treating insomnia. In these cases, often Acupuncture and herbal treatments will be aimed towards regulating the movement of Qi (vital energy) to restore harmony within the key internal organs while balancing the Yin and Yang (cooling and warming) energies in the body. This assists in calming the mind and can alleviate insomnia symptoms.
About Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
1. What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a medicine system that is over 5000 years old and has been
used to treat and prevent all sorts of conditions since ancient China. It is a system based on
Yin Yang and five elements (Gold – Wood – Water – Fire – Earth) theories, and the diagnosis
and treatment of TCM can normally be performed on one’s Structure (physical) level, Qi
(energy) level and Spirit level. The goal of TCM doctors is to balance the Yin and Yang, and
let patient’s body function resume by regaining its natural ability to perform all the major
activities, such as digesting food and water, pass bowel and urine, and having good quality
sleep.
2. Who can benefit from TCM?
Chinese medicine is known for its good effect in managing pain and decreasing
inflammation, improving sleep quality, reducing stress, balancing hormones, improving
fertility, post injury or surgery recovery, and numerous other areas.
Patients present with many different pain related conditions, chronic skin
issues, sinuses and infection, post covid recovery, digestion related and many other
conditions.
Essentially, if you need help in improving your life quality in any aspect, you should be able
to obtain support through Chinese Medicine.
3. What can you expect on your first Chinese Medicine visit?
